2022 Wyoming House Race Polls: Liz Cheney Suffers from Negative Sentiment, trails Hageman
2022 Wyoming House Race Polls: Liz Cheney Trails Harriet Hagemen in the latest polls. While Cheney leads on Google Search, overall sentiments against her are quite negative
POlls plus Google Search Update, December 20
The Wyoming-At-Large (WY-AL) Congressional District goes to the polls on November 8th, 2022. The incumbent Representative Liz Cheney is currently facing multiple primary opponents over her decision to vote in favour of impeaching Donald J Trump over the January 2021 US Capitol Riots.
The Trump Revenge
Donald Trump has taken it upon himself to do everything he can to seek ‘vengeance’ upon any Republicans who voted to impeach him by defeating and ending their political career.
10 Republicans voted to impeach him in the house and 3 have already announced their decision to retire, fearing defeat in the primary. Trump and his allies have focused most of their ire on the highest profile House Republican who voted to impeach, Elizabeth Cheney. She was the third most powerful Republican, before being demoted this year and is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
2022 Wyoming House Race Polls: Candidates in the Republican Primaries
The major candidates running in this Primary are:-
- Liz Cheney, incumbent US House Representative
- Harriet Hageman, lawyer, former member of the RNC and Trump’s chosen candidate to defeat Liz Cheney
- Anthony Bouchard, State Senator for the 6th District
- Denton Knapp, Retired Army Colonel
- Robyn Belinskey, Businesswoman
Some of the candidates who decided to drop out after President Trump decided to endorse Harriet Hageman and followed in his footsteps by endorsing Harriet Hageman are:-
- Bryan Miller, chair of the Sheridan County Republican Party and candidate for U.S. Senate in 2014 and 2020
- Darin Smith, attorney, Christian Broadcasting Network executive, and candidate for this seat in 2016
Cheney path to victory runs through winning a plurality of the vote in the a divided field with the help of her large name recognition, her war-chest which is $3.6M as of the third quarter of the year, and potentially some democrats crossing the aisle to vote for her in the primary as the general election is not competitive — the winner of this primary is the prohibitive favorite to win in November 2022. Her task has become more difficult since Trump endorsed early, clearing the field and reducing the chance that the “anti-Cheney” vote gets divided.
2022 Wyoming House Race Polls: Latest Polls
The only 2022 Wyoming House Race Polls that have been carried out were carried out before Trump endorsed Harriet Hageman so they are not in sync with present conditions, but they do give us a glimpse into the amount of disillusionment Wyoming Republicans have with Liz Cheney for her vote to impeach Trump. Cheney does not cross 23% in any poll, which already spells trouble for an incumbent with statewide name recognition.
